Let’s talk about the watch specification first, the watch is chronograph watch featuring monophase indicator, 43mm in diameter, equipped with a Seagull ST1908 manual winding watch movement, sapphire crystal, display case back, lug width is 22mm, lug to lug 51.5mm, thickness is 13mm.

The watch available in rose gold and stainless steel case, combine with rose gold, black and light blue watch dial.

The Sugess ChronographMoonphase is a sophisticated evolution of one of Sugess’s most iconic series. The Moonphase variant takes that celestial connection a step further by literally displaying the moon on the dial. It blends technical watchmaking, poetic astronomy, and contemporary precision into a single instrument that appeals to collectors who want more than just a chronograph.

At first glance, the watch retains the unmistakable Chronograph DNA: a balanced tri-compax layout, and strong, legible hands. Yet the Moonphase distinguishes itself with richer detailing and a slightly more refined personality. The Sugess S468 come in a 43mm watch case, giving it strong wrist presence without feeling oversized thanks to well-curved lugs. The finishing alternates between brushed and polished surfaces, allowing the watch to transition comfortably from professional settings to casual wear.

The dial is where the watch truly earns its name. Sugess often uses deep color tones textures that create a sense of depth reminiscent of a night sky. At 6 o’clock sits the moonphase display, typically rendered on an aventurine glass disc—a material infused with tiny metallic particles that sparkle subtly, mimicking distant stars. The moon itself is strikingly realistic, Sugess has even used high-resolution Moon’s imagery so detailed that you can discern lunar craters with a loupe. This is a testament to Sugess’s modern approach: honoring classical complications while upgrading them with contemporary engineering.

Powering the watch is the Seagull ST1908 watch movement. Which is a manual-wind mechanical chronograph caliber derived from the Swiss Venus 175 after its tooling was acquired by Tianjin Watch Factory in the 1960s. It features a gold Swan Neck Regulator which dedicated to Sugess Watches, a traditional column-wheel system, delivering smoother chronograph operation than cheaper cam designs, and runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour with roughly a 35-hour power reserve. Using a horizontal clutch, it emphasizes classic engineering over modern complexity. Appreciated for its heritage and affordability, the ST19 offers enthusiasts an accessible entry into authentic mechanical chronographs with solid reliability and historical significance.

The chronograph itself is equally refined. A column-wheel architecture ensures smoother pusher action, while the vertical clutch eliminates the slight “jump” sometimes seen when starting lesser chronographs. The central seconds hand sweeps cleanly, reinforcing the sense of mechanical quality.

Turn the watch over, and the sapphire caseback reveals the movement in full view. It is the kind of movement finishing that invites lingering admiration rather than a quick glance.

On the wrist, the Sugess S468 Moonphase Chronograph feels purposeful yet luxurious. It is heavier than a standard Moonwatch but conveys solidity rather than bulk. A leather strap that elevates the watch into dress-chronograph territory.

In many ways, the Sugess S468 Moonphase Chronograph represents a philosophical shift from tool watch to technical showcase. The original Chronograph proved its toughness in space; the Moonphase demonstrates how far mechanical watchmaking has progressed since that era. It is less about survival and more about mastery—precision, materials science, and artistic expression working together.

For collectors, the appeal lies in this duality. It carries the heritage of lunar heritage while offering modern innovations that make it practical for everyday wear. Whether admired for its complication, its advanced movement, or its unmistakable lineage, the Sugess S468 Moonphase stands as a compelling reminder that even in an age of smart devices, mechanical watches can still inspire wonder—much like the moon itself.
